Hornet baseball scores 11 runs to defeat CV.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity baseball team swept the season series with an 11-1 win over Cowanesque Valley Monday night.

The Hornets jumped out early, scoring seven runs in the first two innings and never looked back en route to their 10th win of the year. Senior Ben Shaw went 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Junior Brian Doty was 2-2 with a run scored. Seniors Connor Coolidge and Matt Reese also had two hits on the night.

Rounding out the hits for the Hornets were Junior Brandon Owlett, Junior Dylan Prough, Freshman Joe Allen, and Senior Luke Rudy.

Coolidge pitched 4 innings on the mound for the Hornets striking out 3 batters while allowing 2 runs, 3 hits, and 5 walks on 75 pitches to earn the win. Dylan Prough pitched 2 innings and Allen threw one in relief.

With the win, the Hornets improve their 2013 season record to 10-3 (4-2 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, May 7 as they travel to Danville.
