Hornet baseball tops Wyalusing.
 

The Wellsboro Varisty baseball team picked up their second straight win over the NTL East as they beat Wyalusing 6-3 Wednesday night.

The Hornets opened up the game taking a 2-0 lead before the Rams tied it a 2-2 in the in the 3rd inning. The Hornets would score four runs in the final three innings to pull away for the win.

Senior Dan Saniga started the game on the mound for the Hornets, pitching the first three innings and giving up 2 runs. Junior Brandon Owlett came on in relief and scored the win. Owlett struck out five while allowing one earned run and one walk. Senior Matt Reese pitched the final inning to record the save.

Freshman Dawson Prough went 3-4 with a run scored and 4 stolen bases to lead the Hornets at the plate. Junior Dylan Prough recorded 2 hits (1 double), 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored, and Junior Brian Doty hit a double and recorded 3 RBI's. Reese and Owlett also added hits on the evening.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 5-1 (2-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Friday, April 26 as they host Towanda.
