Hornet baseball downs Mansfield, 12-4.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team beat rival Mansfield 12-4 on Monday, April 20.

The Hornets put together a three-run first inning and 14 total hits to help pick up the win against their NTL Division 1 foe. Junior Dawson Prough went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI at the plate and scored four runs to lead the Hornets on the afternoon. Senior Brett Kendrick and Junior Nick Webster were both 2-for-4 and Senior Nick Levindoski was 2-for-5 with a triple and four RBI's.

Freshman Dalton Prough, Juniors Nick Tremper, Joe Allen, James Mundy, and Sam Moss, and Freshman Johnny Rowland all added hits in the game and Kendrick also scored two runs.

Moss started on the mound and picked up his second win of the season as he gave up three runs (all earned) to go along with two strikeouts in five innings of work. Mundy earned the save as he struck out four batters in the final two innings.

The win improves the Hornets' record to 4-4 (2-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 22 as they travel to Northeast Bradford.
