Hornet baseball tops Canton, 4-3.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team picked up their first win of the 2015 season as they defeated Canton 4-3 on Monday, April 6.

The Hornets trailed 1-0 early, but managed to score two runs in the third inning. Junior Sam Moss and Dawson Prough reached base and Senior Nick Levindoski drove them home to put the Hornets up. Canton would get a run back in the fifth inning to tie the game, but Levindoski stepped up again in the top of the sixth with a two-run single to put Wellsboro up 4-2. Canton would get a run back in the bottom of the inning, but the Hornets held on for the victory.

Levindoski had the Hornets only two hits on the afternoon, as he went 2-for-3 at the plate with 4 RBI's. Moss and Prough combined to score all the Hornets' runs.

Senior Brett Kendrick started on the mound before being relieved by Moss, who went 5 and 2/3 innings with a strikeout and two hits. Junior Joe Allen came on in relief and pitched the final 1 and 2/3 innings for the win.

The win improves the Hornets record to 1-1. The team will be back in action on Wednesday, April 8 as they host Williamson.
