Hornet baseball tops Milton, 4-3.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team picked up a non-league 4-3 win over Milton on Saturday, April 25.

The Hornets trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but the Hornets scored two runs in the second inning and another in the third to go up 3-1. Milton added a run in the third and would tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning before the Hornets scored the winning run in the seventh inning.

Junior Dawson Prough was 2-for-3 with a double and Freshman Dalton Prough was 2-for-4. Junior Nick Tremper was 1-for-3 with a double, Freshman Caleb Tennis was 1-for-3, and Freshman Johnny Rowland was 1-for-2.

Tremper, Dawson Prough, Tennis, and Junior Sam Moss all scored runs on the afternoon. Junior Joe Allen struck out four in five innings on the mound, while Moss earned the win in relief, working two one-hit innings with two strikeouts.

In the JV game earlier in the day, the Hornets defeated Troy 6-5 to improve to 1-1.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 6-4 (2-2 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 28 as they travel to Wyalusing.
