The Wellsboro JV Baseball team dropped a double header to Towanda on Saturday, May 16 to end their season.

In the first game, Wellsboro would open the top of the first with a five run scoring outburst. Freshmen Dalton ProughCaleb Tennis, and Johnny Rowland would score for the Hornets, as well as Freshmen Brent English and Brandon Plume. The bats would cool for the Hornets as the game went on, as they would not plate another run until the top of the fifth inning.

Rowland took the mound for the Hornets and threw three innings. He gave up one run in the first and five in the second on three walks and two hits. Freshman Parker Mann came on in relief giving up two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth, which proved to be the difference in the game, as the Hornets lost 8-6.

Offensively, Prough, Tennis, and English had one hit in the game, and Plume provided two hits.

In the second game of the double header, Mann pitched the first inning on the mound, giving up three runs, two of them earned. The Hornets answered back in the bottom of the first, as Rowland and Prough reached on errors and worked their way around to score.

Prough came in to relieve Mann in the second inning, giving up two runs, while striking out two Towanda hitters. Freshman Alex Kozuhowski would come on to relieve Prough in the following inning and would shut down Towanda the rest of the way.

The Wellsboro offense would stall until the bottom of the final frame with Freshmen Kody Rice and Nolan Lohr working their way on base with a walk and moving their way around the basepaths. The Hornets would get the tying run on base, but could not capitalize, dropping the game 6-5. Tennis and Prough had the only two hits for the Hornets in the game. Kozuhowski was effective in relief, contributing three innings, walking one, while striking out four.

With the losses the Hornets end the 2015 season with a record of 2-8.
