Hornets fall to Troy, 8-3.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team dropped an 8-3 game to NTL Division 1 rival Troy on Wendesday, April 13.

The Trojans scored 3 runs in the first inning as the Hornets gave up 3 unearned runs and never recovered. Troy added runs in both the second and third innings, two runs in the fifth, and one in the sixth to close out the game. Troy finished with 11 hits in the game.

Wellsboro got on board with a run in the fourth inning and two in the sixth. Senior Dawson Prough went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored, and senior Larry Walters was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Senior Sam Moss started on the mound and pitched 3 innings, giving up 5 runs to take the loss. Senior James Mundy, sophomores Dalton Prough and Johnny Rowland, and Dawson Prough all pitched an inning in relief.

The loss drops the Hornets' record to 1-2. The team will be back in action on Friday, April 15 as they host rival North Penn-Mansfield.
