Middle School baseball splits with Towanda.
 

The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team split a doubleheader against Towanda on Wednesday, May 3.

The young Hornets dropped the first game 6-5. Wellsboro was up 2-0 after the first, but Towanda tied it with a run in the second and one in the third. Wellsboro added a run in the top of the fourth, but Towand scored three in the bottom half of the inning to lead 5-3. Wellsboro would tie the game with two runs in the fifth, but the Black Knights again scored in the bottom half of the inning for the win.

Isaac Keane, Kaeden Mann, and Darryn Callahan all had two hits each while Alex Moore had a hit. Mann scored two runs and Keane, Moore, and Dylan Abernathy all scored.

In game two, Wellsboro won 2-0. The game was tied 0-0 until the Hornets scored both runs in the fifth. Ryan Sweet and Moore scored the Wellsboro runs. Brock Hamblin (2), Mann, Moore, and Bailey Wilcox had Wellsboro's hits and Zack Rowland pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts.

The Hornets are 3-2-1 on the year and are at Cowanesque Valley on Tuesday, May 9
