Hornets fall to Sayre in extras.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team suffered a 1-0 loss in 8 innings to Sayre on Monday, April 29.

Both teams combined for 7 hits on the afternoon, 5 for Sayre and 2 for Wellsboro, as the game was scoreless for 7 innings and went into extras. Sayre's Quinn Hanafin hit the game-winning run in the top of the 8th to score Camden Wheeler.

The Hornets' two hits came from juniors Billy Lechler and Silas Wagaman.

Zach Moore pitched a complete game for the Redskins striking out 4 batters. Sophomore Zach Rowland took the loss on the mound for Wellsboro, allowing 1 run on 4 hits to go along with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Freshman Isaac Keane pitched an inning allowing 1 hit.

The loss drops the Hornets to 5-4 (5-3 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Wednesday, May 1 at Cowanesque Valley.
