Hornets fall to Towanda in extra innings.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team fell to Towanda 5-4 in 8 innings on Friday, May 10.

The Black Knights started off the 1st inning with two runs, highlighted by a two-run home run to take an early lead. Wellsboro cut the lead to a run in the top of the 5th as sophomore Kaeden Mann singled to lead off the inning then scored a on sac fly by junior Carson Davis.

The Hornets took the lead in the top of the 7th with runs by junior Lucas Citrino and sophomore Brock Hamblin, but Towanda answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a run to send the game into extra innings tied up at 3-3.

Senior Taynton Repard led off the 8th with a base hit and later scored to put Wellsboro up 5-3, but again Towanda rallied, this time with two runs, to take the 5-4 win.

Junior Billy Lechler finished with 2 hits while Mann, Repard, Citrino, Hamblin, and freshman Darryn Callahan added hits.

The loss drops the Hornets to 7-7 (7-5 NTL Large School Division). The team will be back in action this afternoon against Warrior Run.
