Hornets fall to Shikellamy, 6-2.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team suffered a 6-2 loss on the road at Shikellamy on Friday, April 9.

The Hornets scored an early run as junior Darryn Callahan hit a hard shot to left field that mishandled by the Braves to score sophomore Conner Adams following a lead off walk. The Braves took the lead in the bottom half of the inning with 3 runs, then added 2 more in the bottom of the 3rd and one in the bottom of the 4th.

Wellsboro's 2nd run of the afternoon came in the top of the 2nd on a base hit from sophomore Blake Hamblin to score brother Brock Hamblin.

Brock Hamblin led the Hornets at the plate going 2-for-2 with a double. Blake Hamblin and junior Isaac Keane made up the remaining two hits of the Hornets' 4 on the day.

Keane started and threw the first 3 & 1/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 6 hits, 4 walks, and a strikeout on 69 pitches. Adams came on in relief for the final 2 & 2/3 innings. He struck out 1 batter on 34 pitches.

The loss drops the Hornets to 2-2 (2-1 NTL Large School Division). The team resumes league play on Monday as they host Athens.
