Middle School Hornets split with Mansfield, Troy.
 

The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team split a pair of game against North Penn-Mansfield and Troy on Saturday, April 24.

Wellsboro beat North Penn-Mansfield 11-6 and then fell to Troy, 12-5.

Against Mansfield, the Hornets scored 5 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, and a run in the 4th. Drayden McGee led Wellsboro at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Marek Mascho, Ryder Bowen, and Gabe Sprouse were all 2-for-3. Bowen scored 3 times and drove in 2 runs and Sprouse and Mascho both scored twice. Cameron Owlett added the Hornets other hit and had 3 RBIs.

Sprouse started and pitched 1 & 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. Lucas Cuneo pitched the final 2 & 1/3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 3 runs.

Against Troy, Wellsboro scored a run in the 1st, 3 in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th. Troy had two large innings, scoring 5 runs in the 3rd and 6 in 5th. The Hornets had 6 hits in the game coming from Will Gastrock, Bowen, Sprouse, McGee, John McConaghy, and Luke Rothermel. Bowen started a pitched 3 innings, giving up 6 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Dylan Copp pitched the remaining two innings, allowing 6 runs on 3 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Wellsboro (2-2) hosts Cowanesque Valley on Tuesday, April 27.
