Junior High Hornets shut out Bucktail.
 

The Wellsboro Junior High Baseball team continued their hot start to their season by shutting out Bucktail 18-0 and 12-0 on Wednesday, April 13.

The young Hornets needed just two and a half innings to put the Bucks away, scoring 11 runs in the 1st and 7 in the 2nd.

Wellsboro had just 7 hits on the day but drew 10 walks to aide in base running. Dylan Copp and Max Mascho were both 2-for-3 on the day with Copp hitting a double. Gavyn Jelliff, Drayden McGee, and Coen Tennis were all 1-for-3. Cameron Owlett scored twice, Jelliff drove in 3 runs, Copp added 4 RBIs and scored twice, McGee scored 3 runs and drove in 2, Mascho had 3 RBIs and scored 2 runs, Ethan Keane scored a pair of runs, and Tennis had 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

In the second game Wellsboro won 12-0 in 5 innings. The Hornets scored 5 runs in the 1st, one in the 4th, and 6 in the 5th.

The Hornets had 9 hits in the game, two by Nathan Love and single hits by Jacob Smith, Jelliff, Syler Pietrzyk, Calob Stone, Garrett Kaltenbach, Jacob Heckman, and Dylan Tomlinson. Pietrzyk hit a double and scored twice. Smith drove in 3 runs, Kaltenbach drove in a pair of runs, and Braxton Kerr and Izaya Campbell both scored twice.

The win improves the Hornets' record to 5-0-1. The team is off until next Tuesday, April 19 when they travel to Towanda.
