Junior High Hornets take pair of games vs Williamson.
 

The Wellsboro Junior High Baseball team won another doubleheader over Williamson on Wednesday, May 18.

The Hornets took game one 16-4 and won the 2nd game, 8-3.

In the first game Wellsboro scored 6 early runs through the first two innings before the Warriors cut the lead to two with a 4-run 2nd. Wellsboro wouldn't allow another run from the Warriors, going on to add 10 more runs to end the game after the 4th.

Jacob Smith led Wellsboro at the plate going 2-for-4 while Braxton Kerr, Calob Stone, Jacob Heckman, Cooper Jones, Coen Tennis, and Hayden Stevens combined for the rest of the Hornets' 8 hits. Evan Parshall also drove in 3 runs. Stone and Tennis pitched two innings each, allowing 4 runs on 3 hits with 7 strikeouts.

In game two Wellsboro trailed 1-0 after the top of the 2nd but would take the lead in the bottom half of the inning with 2 runs. Williamson retook the lead, 3-2, with a pair of runs in the 4th, but again Wellsboro rallied in the bottom half of the inning with 6 runs.

Cameron Owlett, Gavyn Jelliff, Dylan Copp, Drayden McGee, Heckman, Max Mascho, Luke Rothermel, and Tennis had Wellsboro 8's hits in the game with Mascho hitting a double and Copp going for a triple. Owlett and McGee combined to allow 3 runs on 1 hit with 8 walks and 9 strikeouts.

The wins improve the Hornets to 16-1-1 on the year and will host rival North Penn-Mansfield on Saturday, May 21 for their final regular season games.
