Hornet Junior High Baseball Team Splits Doubleheader With Troy.
 

The Wellsboro Junior High Baseball team split a doubleheader with Troy on Tuesday, May 21.

The Hornets edged the Trojans 2-0 with runs in the 4th and 5th innings for the shutout.

Griffin Morral drew a walk in the 4th then scored on a sac fly from RJ Doughtie to put the Hornets in front. Later in the 5th, Wes Starkweather singled to get on base and Logan Johnson came on to pinch run. Reed Richardson then hit a sac fly to score Johnson, making it 2-0.

The Hornets had just three hits on the evening, one each from Starkweather, Wyatt Sporer, and Gage Baltzley. Baltzley pitched a complete game, allowing only 1 hit to go with 3 strikeouts.

Troy took game two 11-0. Logan Stevens was 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Hornets while Eli Nowak and Jake Starkweather were both 1-for-2. Richardson pitched two innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out three.

The Hornets (7-2) host Towanda this afternoon.
