Sayre, Tioga pick up wins.

2012 Sayre vs. Mansfield BaseballSAYRE - A 10-run sixth inning by Sayre broke open a close game as the Redskins beat Mansfield 13-3 in six innings Tuesday.

Joe Kozemko went 3-for-3 with a triple and RBI to lead Sayre while Alex Lyons and Jared Donovan each had two hits. Lyons' hits were a triple and double with three runs scored while Donovan crossed home twice.

Nick Skerpon was 1-for-2 with three runs while Brad Felt scored twice. Kyle Lake, Tyler Williams and Nate Williams also scored runs.

Tyler Williams got the win, going the distance to strike out one.

For Mansfield Taylor Hillson, Sam Rotella, Jason DeHaven, Matt DeLosa, Derek Burd and Sam Bohnert had hits, with Hillson's an RBI triple. Rotella also had an RBI while DeHaven, Hillson and Brady Andrews scored the runs.

Bohnert started, going five innings for the no decision. He struck out two while walking none.

Andrews came on in relief and took the loss with one strikeout and eight walks.

Tioga 2, Newfield 1

The Tigers pulled out another squeaker thanks to some seventh inning heroics.

With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh Dakota Skinner led off with a double for Tioga. Cody Bennett then brought him home with a single to take a 2-1 lead, which proved to be enough.

Peter Simmons went the distance for the win, striking out four while allowing two walks, three hits and no earned runs.

Skinner was 2-for-3 at the plate while Bennett and Eric Zwierlein had the other two hits.

Nicco Nunez, Cal Eddy and Xavier Baker had the three Newfield hits. Nunez scores the loss, going all seven innings to strike out eight while allowing three walks, four hits and one earned run.

Tioga will host Odessa-Montour today.
