2012 NTL All-State Baseball SelectionsFew could dream of the type of senior season that Towanda's Zack Ripic achieved.

It started with all-state honors in football and then in the winter Ripic brought home a PIAA medal in wrestling.

Now, to cap his senior season Ripic has been named first-team all-state in baseball by the Pennsylvania High School Baseball Coaches Association.

"It's an honor that I Really appreciate," Ripic said. "I feel like I'm kind of lucky to get it. I really appreciate it and I will really cherish it."

Ripic knows that his senior season was the type that athletes always imagine.

"It's a year I can only dream about, a year I could never repeat again," Ripic said. "A lot of great things happen. I give a big thanks to everyone that helped me out during the year, that helped me through it and to get all those things."

For Ripic earning baseball all-state honors was never anything he pictured.

"I was just hoping to have a better year than the year before," he said. "I never really looked to getting all-state honors."

For Ripic it continues the baseball tradition at Towanda, and comes a year after Zach Place earned first team honors for Towanda.

It's really nice, I kind of fell like part of the big family now that with the guys that have been really successful in the sport," Ripic said. "There are a lot of other guys that could have and should have gotten it, other guys that have the abilities to."

Ripic believes that in the future he will see some of those other athletes also earn the same honors.

"I have a strong belief that a lot of guys at Towanda and in the NTL have the abilities that they can do it," he said. "It's going to excite me if they do it. I will have to wait and see what happens."

Now, Ripic heads off to Penn State in the fall where he is considering trying to walk on to the football or baseball team for the Nittany Lions.
