2012 Troy vs. Towanda BaseballEAST TROY - The Trojans got three runs in the sixth inning to break open a game that was 2-1 after five and Troy defeated Towanda, 5-1 on Monday night.

Cody Wolfe threw a complete game for the Trojans, striking out two and walking two, allowing eight hits and one run as the NTL West co-leaders defeated the NTL East leaders.

"I thought Wolfe pitched an effective ballgame against us," Towanda coach Bill Sexton said. "He was around the strikezone and we just weren't patient enough to barrel the bat up against him. We had opportunities, we had eight hits. But, they turned two double plays, which were beneficial for them, and he didn't walk people to put extra runners on."

At the plate Lucas Havens had a stolen base and scored two runs and Justin Fitzwater had two hits and stole a base.

Delbert Lewis had two hits, two RBI and a run scored and Zach Root and Josh Mattocks each had a hit and an RBI.

Kyle Jackson and Jarod Mattocks each scored runs for Troy.

Towanda got a stolen base and a run scored from Brandon Dinelli and Zack Ripic and Austin Markel each had doubles, while Mason Roof had two hits and an RBI and Nick Place had two hits.

Ripic struck out seven, walked seven and allowed four hits and five runs, five earned, in 5 1/3 innings, hitting two.

Sawyer Strope struck out one and allowed two hits in 2/3 of an inning.

Towanda hosts Galeton on Wednesday and Troy is at Sayre.

Sayre 3, Wellsboro 1

Alex Lyons threw a complete game for Sayre, striking out nine, walking six and allowing just two hits and one earned run.

"Alex Lyons threw pretty well tonight," Wellsboro coach Philip Prough said.

Sayre got hits from Kody Ketter, Nate Williams, Nick Skerpon, Alex Lyons and Jared Donovan and Williamson, Donovan and Tyler Williams scored runs in the game.

Matt Reese and Pat Parsons had hits for the Green Hornets.

Brandon Grinnell struck out three, walked four and hit two, while allowing three runs, one earned in the game. Dan Saniga struck out one and allowed no hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Wellsboro is at NEB on Wednesday and Sayre hosts Troy.

Athens 11, Mansfield 8

The Wildcats got six runs in the fourth on their way to the victory on Monday.

Troy Stivason had a double and two runs scored for Athens and Zach Firestine had a hit, while Adam McCauley had a run scored and an RBI.

Justin Schlosser had a hit and scored three runs and Curt Moore had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI.

Curt Moore had a hit and scored two runs, with an RBI, while Nick Bradley had a hit.

Craig Moore had a hit, a run scored and an RBI and Trey Patton had a double, a run scored and three RBI.

Stag Shadduck had two hits, with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Chris Pack had a hit.

Pack went the distance on the mound, striking out four and walking two.

Taylor Hillson, Josh Holleran, Sam Rotella and Max Colegrove all had hits for Mansfield, with Hollerand's being a double.

Skye Steiner, Sam Bohnert, Brady Andrews and Bryce Zaparzynski had two hits each, and Zaparzynski had a double.

Rotella struck out one and walked six in 3 1/3 innings and Holleran went 3 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking two.

Mansfield is at Sayre today.

Wyalusing 12, Galeton 0, 6 innings

The Rams got seven runs in the third on their way to the win.

Chad Johnson scored a run and Jordan Salsman and Cody Pickett each had hits.

Justin Haley scored a run and Kyle Tinney was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI.

Gavin Carr had a hit, a run scored and an RBI and Dominic Ciccolini had three hits, two stolen bases and three runs scored.

Dylan Otis had a double and Kye Novak had a hit.

Suede Reed struck out seven and walked one, while allowing one hit in the game.

Zack Brown had Galeton's hit.

Wyalusing hosts Mansfield on Wednesday.

Williamson 6, NEB 1

The Warriors scored all six runs in the fifth and sixth innings on Monday.

Troy Adriance had two hits, three stolen bases and a run scored and Kyle Colegrove scored a run, while Hunter Huyett had a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Canyon Black had a hit and an RBI, Matt Gee had a hit, Trevor Adriance had a double, a runs scored and a stolen base, Wade Tubbs had a double and scored two runs and Curtis Heck had a hit.

Jesse Stroud had a hit and James Zajac had a double, a run scored and two stolen bases for Northeast Bradford.

Brett Goodwin, Todd Bonin and Dylan Chapman all had hits, with Goodwin stealing a base.

Drew Fish struck out nine and walked one on the mound for Williamson, allowing five hits and Zajac worked 5 1/3 innings, striking out five, walking two and allowing eight hits and six runs, four earned, while Andy Seeley threw 2/3 of an inning of perfect ball.

Northeast Bradford hosts Wellsboro on Wednesday.
