Waverly baseball downs Athens.

ATHENS - The Waverly Wolverines got three hits, three runs scored, two RBI from Dylan Gutierrez, who had a double and a triple, as they defeated Athens 8-5 on Saturday.

Cody Marchese had a hit and scored a run and Dylan Perry had two hits and scored four runs.

Matt Lee had a hit, Anthony Argenio had a hit and three RBI and Pat Bronson had a hit and two RBI. Argenio and Bronson each had doubles in the game and Matt McCabe stole a base.

For Athens Adam McCauley had a hit and scored a run, Chris Pack scored a run, Craig Moore had two hits and an RBI, Curt Moore scored a run and Mike Estes had a hit, a run scored and two RBI.

Stag Shadduck scored a run, Trey Patton had an RBI and Troy Stivason had a hit and an RBI.

Estes and Stivason each had doubles, and Stivason had three stolen bases, while Estes and Curt Moore stole bases.

Kyle Kuzma worked 5 1/3 innings, striking out six, walking three and allowing five hits and five runs, all earned. Bronson worked 1 2/3 perfect innings, striking out one.

Adam McCauley started for Athens, striking out two, walking two and allowing five hits and four earned runs. Craig Moore struck out two, walked two and allowed three hits and four earned runs in three innings of relief.

Notre Dame 13, Moravia 12

With the game tied at 8, Moravia had a four-run seventh to take a 12-8 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Crusaders answered with a five-run inning to come away withe victory.

Moravia had taken a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth, but Notre Dame got four in the fourth to get back into the game. Moravia went ahead 8-4 in the top of the fifth, but the Crusaders answered with their second straight four-run inning.

In the bottom of the seventh Aaron Carson led off with a walk and Wyatt Martin had a double. Tyler Boyles followed with a two-run double and Kyle Metzger walked to put two runners on with Notre Dame down 12-10.

After a strikeout, Derke Marshall got an RBI single to cut the deficit to one and Athens' Parker May followed with a single to put runners on first and second.

Metzger scored on a wild pitch and Hunter Thomas walked to load the bases and a bases-loaded walk to Carson gave the Crusaders the win.

May had two hits and scored a run, Shaun Brown scored two runs, Thomas had a double, a run scored and two RBI and Carson had an RBI and scored a run.

Martin had two hits, a double, two RBI and three runs scored and Tyler Boyles had two hits, a double, two RBI and two runs scored.

Metzger scored a run, Reilly Leonard had an R BI and Marshall had a hit, a run scored and two RBI.

Boyles started on the mound.
