Athens tops Sayre in 10; May leads ND past Waverly.

2015 Athens vs. Sayre BaseballATHENS - An extra-inning pitchers' dual ended with a hard hit ball off the bat of Zane Vargason on Monday as Athens topped Sayre 3-2 in 10 innings.

With the game tied in the bottom of the 10th Matt Collins singled and Zane Vargason crushed a double to bring home the winning run.

Tyler Forbes pitched seven innings of perfect relief for Athens, striking out 11. Sam Perri worked three innings to start the game for Athens, striking out one.

Jordan Rockwell went nine innings for Sayre, striking out three and allowing just two runs, while Matt Williams pitched 1/3 of an inning.

Ben Rubert had two hits, with a run scored for Athens and Collins had a hit and a run scored.

Luke Newman had two hits, with a double, and an RBI and Vargason had the double and an RBI.

Forbes had two hits, with a double, and a run scored and Cody Jennings had two hits, with a double, and an RBI.

Nick Vosburg and Ryan Kennedy each had hits for Athens.

Jake Wheeler, Nate Sweet and Connor Hanafin had hits for Sayre. Rockwell and Sweet scored runs and John Esposito and Williams had RBI.

Notre Dame 8, Waverly 5

WAVERLY, N.Y. - Parker May had a dominating game on the mound and Cam Reid had a home run to lead the Crusaders to the win on Monday.

May struck out 14 in 6 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits and two unearned runs, while walking four. Reid allowed one hit in 2/3 of an inning.

"He was pretty special today," Notre Dame coach Bill Hopkins said of May. "Striking out 14 kids after pitching on Friday against Tioga, a state ranked team, then he comes back on Monday against Waverly and pitches even better. Tonight was pitching on fumes after what all of us went through this weekend (a game Friday and two on Saturday), so it was a pretty special night for him."

Reid had a two-run home run and scored two runs in the game, while May had a hit and an RBI.

Nick Clark had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored and Kyle Minchin had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Chris Karam had two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Matt Smith had a hit and a run scored.

Waverly got a double from Zac Saxon, with three RBI and Peyton Miller and Brendyn Stillman each scored runs. Kyle Kinsley and Nate Bennett had hits, with Bennett scoring a run.

Mason Salsman and Collin Traub each scored runs for Waverly.

Zack Gingerick struck out three in four innings for Waverly and Salsman struck out two in two innings, while Stillman struck out one in one inning.

Canton 15, Towanda 0, 5 innings

WYSOX - Clayton Tymeson threw a one-hitter, and had four hits at the plate, to lead the Warriors to the win on Monday.

Tymeson struck out five and walked five in the shutout. At the plate Tymeson had four hits, three runs scored and two RBI.

Travis Butcher had two hits, with a double, two RBI and three runs scored and Mason Moore had two hits, a run scored and an RBI.

Trevor Route had an RBI and a run scored and Tyler Cole had an RBI and a run scored. Jeremiah McClinton scored a run and Mason Martell had two hits and an RBI. Gunnar Wesneski scored a run and Bryce Cole scored a run, while Lee Rogers had a hit, two RBI and a run scored.

Brendan Landis had a hit and a run scored for Canton.

Lars Thomason had Towanda's hit.

Troy Pierce worked three innings for Towanda, striking out one, and Jared Lines pitched one inning, while Dalton Potter had a strikeout in 2/3 of an inning and Tyler Bidlack pitched 1/3 of an inning.

Towanda is at Athens on Wednesday and Canton is at Sayre.

Troy 14, Williamson 0, 5 innings

Kyle Jackson and Jarod Mattocks combined on a no-hitter to lead Troy to the win on Monday.

Jackson struck out four, walking two, in two innings and Mattocks struck out three, walking two.

Brandon Mattocks had two hits, with a double, a run scored and two RBI and Jarod Mattocks had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Kyle Jackson had two hits, with a double, and a run scored and Anthony Dietrick scored a run.

Isaac Havens had a hit and scored two runs and Kyle Schucker was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Brock Schucker had a double, an RBI, a run scored and Jacob Cummings had a hit, a run and an RBI.

Chance Lantz had a hit, a run scored and three RBI and Mitchell Morse had a hit and scored a run.

Collin Binford had a hit and an RBI and Tyler Combstock scored a run.

Chase Austin started on the mound for Williamson and Collin Heilbrun and Hunter Sackett each pitched in the game.

Mansfield 16, Cowanesque Valley 1, 3 innings

The Tigers scored 10 runs in the second inning on their way to the win.

Jarrod Burd had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored and Bryce Zaparzynski had three hits, with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

J.P. Shaw had two hits, two RBI and a run scored and Joel Whitteker had a hit and scored a run.

Nathan Tice had a hit, a run scored and three RBI and Kipp Hillson had a hit and scored two runs.

Scott Reese had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored and Carl Dinger scored three runs, while Derek Hurbst scored two runs.

Dinger struck out one and allowed two hits in two innings and Hurbst struck out one and allowed three hits and one unearned run in an inning.

Tyler Melko had two hits for CV and Matt Freeman had a hit and scored a run. Brendon Bell had a hit and an RBI and Nevin Stiles had a hit.

Bell struck out one in 1 2/3 innings for CV and Chris Lingle pitched one inning.

Wyalusing 8, NEB 0

WYALUSING - The Rams scored three runs in the second and five in the fourth on their way to the win.

Isaac Bennett and Holdan Hitchcock combined on a five-hit shutout on the mound for Wyalusing. Bennett struck out three, walked three and allowed three hits in three innings and Hitchcock struck out two, walked one and allowed two hits in two innings.

Bennett had two hits and scored a run and Hitchcock had a hit and two RBI. Jon Morrison scored a run and Kyle Tinna was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI.

Dylan Otis scored a run and Dawson Otis had a hit and an RBI.

Devon Carr had a hit and scored a run and Ridge Williams had a hit and a run scored, while Levi Simpson had a hit and Eli Bennett had a hit and scored two runs.

David Ford, Bryan Ford, Nik Geiser, Nate Chilson and Joby Leiser each had hits for NEB.

Geiser struck out three in three innings and Leiser struck out one in an inning, while Chilson struck out two in two innings.

Wyalusing hosts Wellsboro today.

Tioga 23, Candor 5

A seven-run second inning and a 12-run fifth inning broke the game open for Tioga on Monday.

Parker Hendershot had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI and Jesse Manuel had three hits and two runs scored.

Adam Layman had four hits, a double, three RBI and four runs scored and Jake Evanek had a hit, two RBI and three runs scored.

Peter Simmons had three hits, a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Lucas Richardson had two hits, three runs scored and four RBI.

Adam Zweirlein had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored, while Gabe Hoose had a hit. Marcus Ulrich had a hit, a run scored and two RBI and Mitchell Taylor had two hits, a run scored and three RBI.

Layman struck out four in five innings to get the win and Zweirlein struck out one in two innings.

Tioga is at Waverly today.
