Notre Dame's May headlines All-Region teamFew players meant more to their teams than Notre Dame's Parker May.

He was the ace on the mound, an important bat in the line-up and their best glove defensively. But more than that his senior leadership on a young team was instrumental in carrying the Crusaders to the Section IV, Class C semi-finals and nearly beating the eventual champions Tioga.

That's why May is The Daily and Sunday Review Player of the Year for baseball.

Tioga's Parker Hendershot had .621 on the year and broke the Tigers' single season record for hits as he is this year's silver slugger.

Canton's John Bowman was one of the top strikeout pitchers in the area and allowed just five earned runs all season. He is this year's Pitcher of the Year.

Troy's Brandon Mattocks' combination of range and arm strength in centerfield made it tough for opposing offenses. He is the Defensive Player of the Year.

The Athens Wildcats started the year hot, hit a lull in the middle but came on strong late to claim the NTL Large School title. Coach Brendon Hitchcock and his staff were able to repeat as NTL champions and are the Coaching Staff of the Year.

Sayre's Jordan Rockwell was his team's top pitcher and manned the shortstop position for a squad that had one of the biggest turnarounds from last season. The freshman is the Rookie of the Year.

Headlining the first team is Athens' Tyler Forbes. The senior was the NTL Player of the Year and pitched in the big games for the Wildcats.

Also on first team are Hendershot, Bowman, Mattocks and May, along with Tioga's Adam Layman and Peter Simmons, Waverly's Peyton Miller, Athens' Zane Vargason, Troy's Kyle Schucker and Jarod Mattocks, Cowanesque Valley's Tyler Melko, Wellsboro's Dawson Prough, Towanda's Nick Place, Mansfield's Bryce Zaparzynski and Jarrod Burd, Sayre's Matt Williams and Canton's Trevor Route.

On second team are Waverly's Collin Traub, Zak Gingerich, Kyle Kinsley and Brendyn Stillman, Athens' Luke Newman, Sam Perri and Cody Jennings, Sullivan County's Adam Szklanka, Notre Dame's Cam Reid and Matt LaBadie, Wyalusing's Holdan Hitchcock, Sayre's Jake Wheeler, Rockwell and Nate Sweet, Northeast Bradford's Brian Horton, Troy's Kyle Jackson, Mansfield's JP Shaw, Tioga's Jesse Manuel and Williamson's Matt Learn.

Rockwell and teammates Nate Sweet, Connor Hanafin and Sam Wheeler headline the All-Rookie Team.

Notre Dame's Ben Cook and Louie Clearwater are on the team along with CV's Colton Vinluan and Caleb Fitzwater, Towanda's Lars Thomason, Tioga's Mitchell Taylor, Adam Zwierlein and Jake Evanek, Wellsboro's Johnny Rowland and Dalton Prough, Mansfield's Kipp Hillson, Waverly's Nate Bennett, Szklanka and Williamson's Hunter Hackett.

The Gold Glove recipients are Waverly's Mike Girolamo (catcher), Troy's Mitchell Morse (first base), Route (second base), Forbes (third base), Dawson Prough (shortstop), Reid (outfield), Manuel (outfield), Brandon Mattocks (outfield) and May (pitcher).
