Sullivan tops Bucktail in extra innings.

Sullivan County used a big fifth inning to rally past Bucktail, 8-7, in eight innings of PHAC baseball action Tuesday.

Bucktail led 6-0 after the first inning but only scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Griffins got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth, then added five more in the top of the fifth to knot things up at 6-all.

After Bucktail scored, Sullivan got another run in the top of the seventh to send it to extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Lucas Shultz led off with a single, then stole second.

John Saxe would hit him in on a single of his own to put the Griffins up 8-7.

In the bottom of the eighth, Bucktail got a runner on with two outs but couldn't move him past first.

Shultz was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI while also getting the win, going all eight innings with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Saxe was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Jake Doyle was 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Jarrod Houck was 2-for-5 with a double while Spencer Gordner, Brian Lewis and Will Kiner also had a hit each.

Bryce Hoffman, Gordner, Lewis and Evan Lewis also scored runs.
