Waverly opens season with winSAYRE — The Redskins scored eight times in the third inning of a 15-5 win over Elk Lake.

Sam Wheeler, Nate Sweet, Connor Hanafin and James Esposito all had two hits in the win. Sweet had two doubles and Wheeler had a double.

Sweet had three RBI and Matt Williams had a triple.

Jordan Rockwell had a hit.

Wheeler had two runs and an RBI.

Colby Sindoni and Luke Cowder had hits for Sayre.

Ryan Murrelle went three innings on the mound and Jake Goodrich went two in the game.

Waverly 23, Newfield 3

The Waverly baseball team had nine runs in the second and 12 in the third in the victory.

D.J. Meyers had four hits, two RBI and three runs scored and Nate Bennett had three hits and scored three runs.

Mason Salsman had a hit, two RBI and a run scored and Ethan McNaulty had a hit.

Brendyn Stillman had two hits, with a double, three RBI and two runs scored and Jake Blackman had a hit.

Peyton Miller had a double, two RBI and three runs scored and Gavin Bennett had two hits and two RBI.

Tyler Croft had a hit while Tyler Dudash and Isiah King each scored runs.

Jason Morales had a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Josh Knolles had an RBI and a run scored, while Zach VanHouten scored a run.

Dylan Cooney had a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.

Bennett struck out four in three innings of two-hit baseball and Croft struck out one in four innings.

Blue Ridge 5, NEB 1

LERAYSVILLE — The Panthers got a double and an RBI from Grant Allis in the loss.

Garret Smith scored the Panthers’ run and Nik Geiser and Derrick Newman had hits.

Geiser struck out five in three innings, Watkins struck out two in 2 2/3 innings, Tyler Devonshire struck out one in 1/3 of an inning and Roland Phytilla pitched one hitless inning.

Derek Stnto had two hits, three runs scored and Evan Aldrich had two hits for Blue Ridge.

Montrose 6, Wyalusing 3

The Rams scored three runs in the first two innings, but Montrose scored in six of the seven innings to get the win.

Isaac Bennet had a hit and scored a run for the Rams and Holdan Hitchcock had two hits.

Skyler Behrend had a hit and an RBI and Mike Wilcox, Alex Dake and Zach Bruyn had hits.

Kyler Warner had a hit and scored a run and Riley God scored a run.

Hitchcock struck out one in three innings, Scott Eberlin pitched two innings and Jon Morrison struck out one in two innings.

Pete Mason had two hits and scored two runs for Montrose.

Wyalusing is at Wellsboro on Wednesday.

Warrior Run 12, Sullivan County 0

The Griffins got a pair of hits, with a double, from John Saxe in the loss.

Lucas Shultz and Spencer Gordner each had hits for the Griffins.

Shultz pitched the first four innings, with Taylor Baldwin finishing the game on the mound for the Griffins.
