Cowanesque Valley upends Montgomery, 9-2.

CV scored three runs in the second, four in the third and two in the sixth to defeat top-seeded Montgomery, 9-2, in Class A, District IV playoffs on Wednesday.

The Indians advance to their first ever District 4 final, where they will take on Sayre in an all-NTL matchup.

Caleb Fitzwater started and threw 6 2/3 innings for CV, allowing one run on three hits and striking out 11, earning the win. Chris Lingle pitched the 1/3 of an inning for CV.

For CV, Corey Wells had two hits and two runs, Wynn Doan added a triple and two runs, Lingle finished with a double and two runs, Kurtis Easton had one hit, a run and an RBI, Owen Fitzwater added one hit and an RBI and Seth Huyler scored two runs, had a hit and an RBI. Jace Bieser and Caleb Fitzwater had RBI.

CV will now face Sayre in the Class A, District IV final on Wednesday, May 31 at Medlar Field in Penn State. Only the champion advances to the the state tournament.
