NEB gets walk-off win over WilliamsonROME — With one out in a tie game in the seventh inning, bases loaded, Derick Newman hit a walk-off single to give NEB the 4-3 edge over Williamson on Monday.

For NEB, Garrett Smith had one run and one RBI; Nate Watkins, Tyler Emick and Derrick Newman each had one hit and one RBI; and Roland Phytila, Clayton Connor and Nick Vrabel each had one hit.

For Williamson, Hunter Sackett scored a run; Brock Sackett finished with one run, hit and RBI; Chase Austin and Brandon Enck each had one hit and RBI; and Ethan Shaefer finished with one hit and one run.

Tyler Devonshire started pitching for NEB. He threw two innings, striking out six and walking two. Ian Wilbur relieved him for 1 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking one. Nick Vrabel then came in, striking out two and allowing three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Phytila then threw one third of one inning, walking two and Grant Allis pitched the last 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and earning the win.

For Williamson, Austin went the distance, striking out six batters and allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits.

"I'm pleased with the comeback," NEB coach Brian Pifer said. "Walk-offs are always good, it feels good to get some momentum going."

Wellsboro 4, NP-Mansfield 2

Caleb Tennis scored a run, hit a double and had two RBI to lead Wellsboro to their 4-2 win over NPM on Monday.

For Wellsboro, Dalton Prough had two runs and two hits, Cam Tennis finished with one run and one hit, Billy Lechler added one RBI, Brent English had one hit and a RBI and Johnny Rowland had one hit as well.

For NPM, Kipp Hillson had one RBI, J.P. Shaw and Joel Whitteker each had one hit, Dewey Wise finished with two runs and two hits and Dylan Wesneski had one hit and one RBI.

Lechler started for Wellsboro, allowing one run on three hits and striking out two in four innings of work. Rowland threw the last three innings, allowing one run on two hits.

Logan Adams went the distance for NPM, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out one.

Athens 3, Troy 2

Athens scored three runs in the first two innings, which was just enough to tide them over to their 3-2 win over Troy on Monday. Athens now has a two game lead over NP-Mansfield in the NTL standings.

For Athens, Matt Collins had one hit; Cody Kennings added a double; Luke Newman had one hit and one RBI; Daniel Joyce finished with one run and one hit; Cory Stivason finished with one run, one hit and one RBI; Justin Reagan added two hits and one RBI and Kaden Rude scored a run.

For Troy, Tyler Williams had one hit, Matt LaBadie added one run and a double, Clark Jackson had one hit, Anthony Dietrick finished with one run and one hit, and Nick Call had a double and two RBI.

Matt Collins started for Athens, throwing 1 2/3 innings. Collins struck out four batters, walked three and allowed no runs and no hits. Joe Horn relieved him for 4 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out three. Cody Jennings pitched the last inning for Athens, striking out the side.

Jackson started for Troy, throwing two and one third innings Jackson allowed three earned runs and struck out two batters. Mason Bellows relieved Jackson for three and two thirds innings, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out one. Matt LaBadie pitched the last inning for Troy, allowing no runs on one hit.

Wyalusing 6, Towanda 5

Joe Wheeler scored three runs and had tone hit to lead Wyalusing to their 6-5 win over Towanda on Monday.

For Wyalusing, Shane Fuhrey had one run and one hit; Chandler Brown finished with one run, hit and RBI; Riley God finished with one hit; and Cody Jackson had one hit and one RBI.

For Towanda, Keegan Kisner had one hit, Tyler Bidlack added one run and one hit; Lars Thomason had one run and a double; Mason Kunkle scored a run; Ricky Smiley finished with one run, two hits and one RBI; Luke Tama added three hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBI; and Troy Pierce had one run and one RBI.

Thomason started for Towanda, allowing five runs, none earned, on five hits and striking out three in five innings of work. Troy Pierce relieved him for the last inning, allowing one unearned run on one hit.

Holdan Hitchcock started for Wyalusing, allowing five runs, none earned, on eight hits and striking out four in 4 1/3 innings.

Chandler Brown pitched the last 2 2/3 innings for Wyalusing, allowing no runs and striking out three.

Cowanesque Valley 9, Canton 1

Corey Wells scored two runs on offense and threw a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out three to lead CV to their 9-1 win over Canton on Monday.

For CV, Caleb Fitzwater had one run and one hit; Jace Bieser added one run and one RBI; Christian Kemp had one hit and one RBI; Wynn Doan added one hit; Seth Huyler finished with one run, a double and one RBI; Kurtis Easton had two runs and one hit; and Owen Fitzwater finished with two runs scored.

For Canton, Silas Binford, Seth Robbins and Nick Schoonover each collected one hit, Garrett Storch scored a run and Michael Smithers had one hit and a RBI.

Nate Deegan started for Canton, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out three in 2 1/3 of work. Byron Marnati relieved him for two thirds of one inning, allowing two runs, one earned, and striking out one.

Robbins then pitched for 1 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits, and Smithers pitched the last 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs, none earned, on one hit and striking out two.

Notre Dame 17, Newark Valley 1, 5 innings

Notre Dame defeated Newark Valley 17-1 in five innings on Monday.

Ben Cook started for ND, throwing three innings with seven strikeouts. Iman McKay pitched the last two innings.

Cook and Erick Charnetski each finished with two hits and Gary Raupers had a double and two singles.
