Up 9-3 in the second inning, the Towanda Black Knights suddenly found themselves trailing 10-9 entering the final inning on Saturday at Wyalusing.

After being shutout the previous four innings, the Black Knights offense came alive again at the right moment and they came away with an 11-10 win in NTL action.

"I was real pleased with the way we started the game, we jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four batters," Towanda coach Bill Sexton said. "(Luke) Tama with a triple that scored (Lars) Thomason and (Tanner) Kunkle and (Ryan) Bartholomew with the first of his five RBI on the day with a single to score Tama. We kept it going in the second inning, sending 10 batters to the plate. The big hit that inning was the grand slam by Bartholomew, his first home run of the year, a no-doubt about it line drive to left field. It wasn't just that hit though, we tacked on a run before that and a run after that.

"Wyalusing kept chipping away at us and all of a sudden we go to the seventh inning down a run. I was pleased with the way the team came back in the seventh inning. When you have a 9-2 lead and find yourself down it can be hard to come back again. Preston Rogers reached on a key error which put him on second base and with one out he scored on a double down the line by (Dawsan) Manning. Mason Johnson came in to run and he scored off an error off the bat of Thomason. It was kind of a key win for us when you go on the road and win like this maybe it can build some momentum."

Bartholomew had a 4-for-4 day with the grand slam, five RBI and a run scored. Thomason had two hits, a run scored and a stolen base and Kunkle had two hits and two runs scored. Tama had two hits, with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored and Brett Crispell had a double and an RBI.

Rogers scored two runs and Devin Dunn had a hit and scored a run. Manning had a double and an RBI and Mason Johnson and Mason Kunkle scored runs.

Manchester struck out six in four innings of work and Bob Farley pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout. Tama got the win, his second of the year, going 2 1/3 innings with a strikeout in relief.

Riley God had three hits, with a triple, three RBI and a run scored for Wyalusing and Darren Schum had three hits, with three RBI, a double and two runs scored.

Mason McGroaty had two hits, with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Shane Fuhrey had a hit and scored a run. Jon Morrison had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and Kyle Warner had a hit and scored two runs. Chase Houser had a hit and Chandler Brown scored a run.

Zach Bruyn, Jacob Carr and Warner pitched, striking out five between them.

Towanda is at CV on Tuesday.
