Canton baseball falls to Bucktail.

The Canton baseball team dropped its first game of the season, falling to Bucktail 6-5 on Tuesday.

Canton led 2-0 after the first inning, but Bucktail got a run in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth to take the lead.

Trevor Route had a double and scored two runs for Canton and Connor Route had three hits, an RBI and scored two runs.

Garrett Wesneski had a double and scored a run and Kyle Landis had three hits and an RBI, while Chase Pepper had a hit.

Mason Martell started on the mound, striking out four in two innings, allowing a run. Tyler Cole worked 1 1/3 innings, allowing five runs, before Chase Pepper pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief, striking out seven and Garrett Wesneski struck out two in one inning.

Canton hosts Athens today.

Troy 10, Williamson 0, 5 innings

The Trojans got five innings of two hit baseball from Kyle Jackson and Isaac Havens in the win.

Jackson struck out three and allowed two hits in four innings and Isaac Havens had two strikeouts in an inning.

Brandon Mattocks had a pair of hits, with a double, for Troy and Jarrod Mattocks had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

Havens had two hits, with a double and Jackson had two hits and two RBI. Dane Smith had a double and an RBI and Stanley Zimmerman had a hit, two runs and two RBI.

Troy Adriance and Matt Learn had hits for Williamson.

Dalton Confer started on the mound for Williamson.

Troy hosts Wellsboro on Friday.

Mansfield 13, Sayre 6

The Tigers exploded for eight runs in the fifth to rally from a 6-4 deficit to get the win.

Brady Andrews had three hits, a double, a run scored and an RBI and J.P. Shaw had three hits and three RBI.

Joel Whitteker had two hits, with three runs scored and Max Colegrove had two hits and scored three runs.

Andrews, Shaw and Bryce Zaparzynski combined to strike out six for Mansfield.

Derrick Keir and Cuyler Kochin pitched for Sayre, striking out two.

J.P. Harbst had three hits, with a double and a run scored for Sayre and Kochin had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Marshall Felt and Matt Williams each had a hit and an RBI for Sayre and Jacob Wheeler had a hit and scored two runs.

Mansfield is at NEB today.
