Wyalusing tops Elk Lake 12-3.

The Wyalusing Rams opened the 2012 baseball season with a lopsided 12-3 win over visiting Elk Lake Tuesday.

The Rams scored four runs in the first and six in the second to jump out early. Elk Lake scored three in the fourth but Wyalusing responded with two in the fifth to seal up the win.

Joe Champluvier paced the Rams offense with a second-inning grand slam as part of a six-run inning that propelled Wyalusing to a 10-0 lead.

Kye Novak and Mitchell Pickett also had multiple hits in the game for the Rams while Logan Hitchcock, Chad Johnson and Cody Pickett each had one hit for the Rams.

Hitchcock started on the mound for the Rams, going two innings with three strikeouts and no runs allowed before Champluvier took over for the next two innings allowing two earned runs and striking out two. Andrew Picket finished the game allowing no runs and striking out four.

Zack Canfield took the loss for Elk Lake.

The Rams will be back in action on Monday, April 9 when they open NTL play at home against Athens.
