Athens doubles up Waverly.

2014 Athens vs. Waverly BaseballWAVERLY, N.Y. - Athens scored all of their runs in the first three innings en route to their 10-5 non-league baseball win over Waverly Saturday.

Both teams scored four runs each in the first inning but Athens went on to score two in the second and four more in the third to go up 10-4.

The Wolverines scored another run in the sixth.

Tyler Forbes had a double, 3-RBI and a run scored for Athens while Dan Fisher was 1-for-3 with two runs and 3-RBI.

Zane Vargason had a double with two runs and an RBI while Nick Vosburg also had a hit.

Vosburg scored twice while Troy Stivason, Jarrett Priester and Jon Kleiner also crossed home.

Ben Rubert started and earned the win, going the first three innings to strike out three while allowing five hits, four earned runs and one walk.

Stivason came on for an inning with one strikeout followed by Vargason, who pitched 1/3-inning. He struck out one while walking three and allowing one hit and one earned run.

Cody Jennings finished up with one strikeout.

Kyle Kinsley was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI to lead Waverly while Peyton Miller, Alex Volpe, Collin Traub and Zach Saxon also had hits.

Saxon added 3-RBI while Volpe and Kinsley knocked in one run each.

Miller, Brendyn Stillman, Dylan Perry and Volpe all crossed home.

Alex Uhl started and earned the loss, going 2 1/3-innings with two strikeouts, five walks, two hits and eight earned runs. Colton Miller came on in relief, going the rest of the way to strike out four while allowing two hits, one walk and one earned run.

Tioga 12, Spencer Van-Ettan 0

Dakota Skinner threw a 1-hit shutout to lead the Tigers to the win.

SVE's lone hit came in the seventh when Hunter Bergmark had a double.

Skinner finished with one walk and five strikeouts.

At the plate Jake Howland went 4-for-5 with two doubles and 3-RBI while Skinner and Parker Hendershot both went 3-for-4. Skinner added four runs and 3-RBI while Hendershot had a double with a run scored.

Jesse Manuel was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs and an RBI while Adam Layman was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Tioga will host SVE Monday.
