Athens falls to Bloomsburg in D4 semis.

2014 Athens vs. Bloomsburg BaseballWILLIAMSPORT - Athens couldn't recover from a rough first inning as they lost to Bloomsburg 8-1 in District IV, Class AA semi-final baseball action Thursday.

Colton Hock was nearly untouchable for Bloomsburg, striking out 19 while allowing four hits, two walks and one earned run.

The Panthers scored five runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. They added two more in the fourth inning to go up 7-0 before the Wildcats got a run in the top of the sixth to cut it to 7-1.

Bloomsburg added another run in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.

Dan Fisher was 2-for-4 to lead Athens while Troy Stivason was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jon Kleiner had the fourth hit while Nick Vosburg scored the run.

Tyler Forbes earned the loss, going five innings to strike out seven while allowing seven hits, four walks and seven runs, four of which were earned.

Sam Perri went the sixth inning, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out two.

Ricky Klingerman went 2-for-4 with 4-RBI and a run scored while Sam Miller was 3-for-4 with two runs and Cole Streater went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
