Towanda's James to join other NTL standouts at NorthamptonIt seems like the Northampton baseball team is collecting NTL standouts, and they got another one as Towanda's Tristan James signed to join the team next year.

"It was a good academic fit for me," James said. "It's a good chance to go there and get seen by Division II or Division III schools."

James will be the fourth NTL standout to join the school, joining Athens' Tyler Forbes and Zane Vargason and Canton's John Bowman.

"I'm going to get to play with a lot of my friends," James said. "John Bowman, Zane Vargason and Tyler Forbes I have played with them with the Bobcats. It's crazy that I get to play with my friends. It's a dream come true."

One of the big things that drew James to the school was how much they wanted him.

"I have the opportunity for really good playing time there," James said. "That was a really big thing for me is getting the chance for playing time."

Before he starts playing in college there are things James want to improve.

"I want to work on getting bigger, stronger," he said.

This year for Towanda the Black Knights were a young team and he's excited to play with a talented, experienced group in college.

"That's very exciting," James said.

James knows that his coaching he got in high school will help prepare him for the next level.

"Coach (Bill) Sexton has always been there supporting me," James said.

James knows that a junior college can help get him noticed to play at a bigger school in the future.

"Scouts will be there and it's an opportunity," he said.

And, he knows that Northampton can prepare him for an even higher level one day.

"It' a good stepping stone, a nice transition," James said.
