Sayre holds off Wellsboro in 6-5 winSAYRE -- The Sayre baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and held on for a 6-5 win over Wellsboro on Tuesday.

Jordan Rockwell worked four innings on the mound for Sayre, allowing two hits and no runs, striking out five.

Nate Sweet and Matt Williams closed out the game, striking out one.

Sweet had three hits, an RBI and a run scored and Matt Williams and Connor Hanafin each had two hits. Williams had an RBI and a run scored and Hanafin scored a run.

Rockwell and Luke Cowder each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, and Sam Wheeler scored a run.

Dalton Prough had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Wellsboro, and Caleb Tennis and Johnny Rowland each had a hit, with Tennis adding an RBI.

Dawson Prough scored two runs, Sam Moss had an RBI, and Larry Walters and Cam Tennis each scored a run.

James Mundy struck out four in 3 1/3 innings and Moss threw three perfect innings of relief, striking out three.

Mansfield 15, Northern Potter 1, 5 innings

Mansfield scored eight runs in the second inning of the win.

Kipp Hillson had three hits and three RBI, and Justice Garth and Dewey Wise each had two hits, with Garth driving in three.

Levi Adams had a hit, two RBI and three runs scored.

Carl Dinger struck out four in three innings and Adams and Hillson each struck out one in one inning.

Mansfield hosts Coudersport on Saturday.
