Athens wins border battle against Waverly.

Athens defeated Waverly 3-1 in local baseball action on Thursday. Marc Felt led Athens with three hits and one run. Felt also started the game and threw three scoreless innings, striking out six and only allowing one hit.

Daniel Joyce and Matt Collins each finished with two hits, Collins added one run. Ryan Kennedy had one hit and Cody Jennings finished with one run, one hit and one RBI.

Jennings pitched the last four innings striking out 10 and only allowing one hit and one run.

For Waverly, Brendyn Stillman had the team's only RBI, Paul Girolamo had one run and one hit and Dylan Cooney had one hit. Ethan McEnulty started the game for Waverly and threw four innings striking out three and allowing two runs. Brady Roney relieved McEnulty for two innings of work, striking out one and allowing one run. Stillman pitched the final inning and allowed no runs and one hit.

Tioga 14, Newark Valley 0

Tioga defeated Newark Valley 14-0 in local New York baseball action on Thursday.

Pierce Hendershot struck out 13 batters for Tioga and Justin Rockwell struck out two.

Tioga's Parker Hendershot had two hits and four runs, Tyler Whitmore had two hits and three RBIs, Damon Rockwell had a double, three runs and one RBI, Nick Klossner had one hit and two RBIs, Derek Barto had a single and one run, Pierce Hendershot finished with two runs and Hugh Singer had one run.

Wednesday Night

Athens 10, Williamson 1

Athens scored seven unanswered runs after the fourth inning to take a 10-1 victory over Williamson on Wednesday night.

For Athens, Daniel Joyce and Justin Reagan each had a single, a double and an RBI. Joyce scored one run and Reagan scored two. Cory Stivason and Cody Jennings each had one run, two hits and one RBI. Ryan Kennedy added one hit, one run and one RBI, Marc Felt and Ethan Witherow each had one hit and one run, Matt Collins had one run, Joe Parshall added one hit and one RBI and Nate Kennedy had one run.

Matt Collins started the game for Athens and went one and one-third innings, surrendering one run and one hit and striking out one. Joe Horn relieved Collins and went three and two-thirds innings allowing three hits, no runs and striking out four. Joe Parshall relieved Horn for a scoreless inning, striking out three batters and Marc Felt pitched the last inning, allowing no runs and striking out two.

For Williamson, Ethan Shafer had two hits, Tyler Andreason also had two hits including a triple, Dawson Hackett and Chase Austin each had one hit, Colin Heilbrun had the team's only RBI and Hunter Sackett scored a run.

Austin started the game for Williamson, going five innings allowing six hits, five runs and striking out seven. Nevin Stiles pitched the last two innings, allowing six hits and five runs.
