Big sixth inning helps CV topple Wyalusing.

WESTFIELD - Cowanesque Valley scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past Wyalusing 9-7 in NTL cross-over baseball action Wednesday.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but CV scored twice in the bottom of the second to go up 2-1.

A 5-run third inning gave Wyalusing a comfortable 6-2 lead.

After two scoreless inning the Indians notched seven runs in the sixth to go up 9-6. The Rams got one back in the top of the seventh but ran out of time.

Wynn Doan was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI to lead CV while Christian Kemp was 2-for-3 with two runs and 2-RBI.

Chris Lingle was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Owen Fitzwater was 2-for-4 with a run scored and 2-RBI, Seth Huyler had a double with a run scored, Caleb Fitzwater and Kurtis Easton both had a hit with a run scored and an RBI.

Lingle started and gets the win for the Indians. He went six innings with six runs scored, one of them earned, two walks and six hits while striking out six on 89 pitches.

Caleb Fitzwater nabbed the save. He struck out one while allowing one unearned run and one walk on 15 pitches in the final inning.

Brandon Brown (2-for-4) and Shane Fuhrey (2-for-3) starred for the Rams in the eight and nine spots of the line-up.

Brown added a run and an RBI while Fuhrey also knocked in a run.

Holdan Hitchcock had a double with an RBI while Kyle Warner also had a hit. Chandler Brown scored twice with an RBI while Zach Bruyn and Cody Jackson both had runs batted in.

Shawn O'Dell and Joe Wheeler also crossed home.

Five different Wyalusing hurlers saw action.

Hitchcock started and went 2 2/3-innings with three strikeouts, four hits, two walks and two earned runs on 48 pitches.

Chandler Brown came on in relief and went 1 1/3-innings with one strikeout and two walks on 25 pitches.

Mike Wilcox threw one inning, allowing two walks, two hits and three runs, one of them earned on 25 pitches. He got through the fifth but didn't record an out in the sixth before being pulled.

Waner came on in relief, going 2/3-innings with one strikeout, five hits and four earned runs on 23 pitches.

Fuhrey finished out the final third on three pitches.

Notre Dame 24, SVE 4

It was a back-and-fourth game until the fifth inning on Wednesday.

SVE led 2-0, and then Notre Dame tied it in the bottom of the first.

Notre Dame went up 4-2 after three, but SVE came right back to tie it in the top of the fourth, before Notre Dame went up a run in the bottom half of the inning.

In the fifth the Crusaders came alive, scoring 14 times to put the game away.

Hunter Homerda pitched five innings and Isaiah McKay pitched two. The two combined to strike out 11.

Gary Raupers had four hits, four runs and two RBI.

Matt Smith was 5-for-6 with three runs scored, two doubles and five RBI.

Ryess Youmans had two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI and Erik Charnetski had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI.

Notre Dame is at Waverly on Monday.

North Penn-Mansfield 13, Canton 2

Mansfield scored seven runs in the second inning on their way to the win.

Brendan Hill had two hits, an RBI and scored two runs and Kipp Hillson scored two runs.

J.P. Shaw had two hits, with a double, two RBI and three runs scored and Dylan Williamson had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Carl Dinger had three hits, three RBI and a run scored and Dewey Wise had two hits, two RBI and a run scored.

Derrick Herbst had a hit and scored a run and Dylan Wesneski had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Dinger threw the complete game, striking out six.

Jeremiah McClinton had two hits and two RBI for Canton and Byron Marnati, Taylor Acla and Brendon Landis had hits. Acla and Maranti each scored runs in the game.

Ethan Landis, Nate Deegan and Marnati combined to strike out seven on the mound.
