NEB baseball edges CV in 10 innings.

Garret Smith doubled home Nate Watkins with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as Northeast Bradford topped Cowanesque Valley in baseball action 2-1.

Watkins drew a one-out walk in the 10th, Tyler Emick was hit by a pitch and Smith doubled home the winning run.

Smith had two doubles and both NEB RBI and Roland Phytila had two hits.

Watkins and Max Cooper scored runs and Tyler Emick, Tyler Devonshire and Ian Wilbur had hits.

Nate Chilson started and struck out two in three innings. Wilbur threw seven innings of three-hit relief, striking out four. He only faced 23 batters in seven innings.

Corey Wells struck out two in five four-hit innings for CV and Caleb Fitzwater allowed three hits, striking out seven, in 4 1/3 innings of relief.

Jace Bieser and Christian Kemp each had two hits for CV. Chris Lingle had a hit and scored a run and Seth Huyler had a hit and an RBI.

Fitzwater, Wells and Kurtis Easton had hits.

"It was a nice win, we are kind of on a nice roll right now," NEB coach Brian Pifer said. "(Wilbur) was very efficient, 73 pitches in seven innings. He was very efficient, he was on. He changed speeds and that's the name of the game."
