Troy edged in 10 innings to just miss districts.

Earlier this year, Shamokin — the second seed in the Class AAAA playoffs — cruised past Troy.

On Saturday, the Trojans gave them every thing they could handle as they rallied from a 5-0 deficit. In the end, the Trojans fell short in 10 innings, 6-5, to just miss out on a spot in districts.

Down 5-0 in the top of the third, Troy got two in the third and three in the fourth, before Shamokin scored in the 10th.

Matt LaBardie, Mason Bellows and Clark Jackson combined to strike out three for Troy. Jake Wolfe and Mark Wetzel struck out 11 for Shamokin.

Ja Wallace had three hits for Troy, with a run and an RBI and Nate Martin had a pair of doubles, with an RBI.

Bailey Cohick, William Dibble and Michael Borden all had a hit and scored a run and Kody Schucker had a hit and an RBI. Tyler Williams had a double and LaBadie scored a run.

Wetzel had three hits for Shamokin.

NEB 9, Neumann 3

The Panthers scored six runs in the sixth to break the game open.

Tyler Emick had two hits and scored two runs and Derrick Newman had a hit, two runs scored and three RBI.

Nate Watkins had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI and Ian Wilbur had a hit and scored a run.

Tyler Devonshire had a hit, Grant Allis had a hit and an RBI, Roland Phytila had an RBI and scored a run and Garret Smith scored a run.

Nick Vrabel struck out seven in six innings and Devonshire and Phytila closed out the game.

SOFTBALL

Sullivan County 5, Sayre 4

The Griffins scored five runs in the first inning and held on for the win.

Jessica King had two hits with a triple for Sullivan County and Bethany Weinhardt had a double and scored a run.

Alexis Randall had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, Tiffany Rupert had a hit and an RBI, Kassandra Houseknecht had a hit and scored a run and Savannah Baldwin and Quincy Fry scored runs.

Sayre got two hits each from Alia Post and Domi Woodruff. Woodruff had a double and two RBI. Kaitlynn McCarter had a double and an RBI and Kate Cron had a double and an RBI.

Camryn Brown had a hit and scored a run, Jillian Shay scored a run and Annaleise Vanderpool scored two runs.

Athens 5, Western Wayne 0

Emma Adams worked 4 2/3 innings, striking out eight and allowing three hits and Aubrey Allen struck out two and allowed no hits in 2 1/3 innings of the win.

Adams had a double and scored a run and Reagan Lynch had a hit and scored a run.

Mimi Martin scored two runs in the win and Morgan Ferguson had a hit in the victory.

Wellsboro 6, Troy 4

Alyssa Yungwirth had a home run, among her two hits, scoring two runs and driving in two runs in the victory.

Wellsboro got off to a fast start as Ryann Adams reached on an error and Yungwirth made it 2-0 two batters in on her home run.

Adams had a hit, an RBI and a run scored and Cathryn Brought had a hit and scored a run.

Brianne Keane had two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Rileigh Gerges had a pair of hits and scored a run.

Nicole Spalding had a hit and scored a run for Troy and Vanessa Watson had a hit and a run scored.

Erika Johnston had two hits and Riley McClellan had a hit and a run scored, while Brianna Rathbun scored a run.

Yungwirth struck out 10 for Wellsboro and Watson struck out two for Troy.
