Hornet baseball suffers loss to Canton.

The Wellsboro Varsity baseball team dropped their second game of the 2012 season as they fell to Canton last night, 13-3. The Warriors offense was too strong for the Hornets defense, as they forced the 10-run rule in the sixth inning of the game.

The Hornet offense was stagnant this game, as Sophomore Brian Doty led the team with 2 hits and a double. Senior Billy Sell, Thomas Johnston, Dylan Prough, Brandon Owlett, and Luke Rudy all added hits for Wellsboro.

Senior Pat Herres recorded his first loss of the season, as he struggled though 1.66 innings on the mound. Owlett and Junior Matt Reese took over in relief for Wellsboro.

With the loss the Hornets fall to 4-2 (4-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Monday, April 23, as they travel to Athens to take on the Wildcats.
