Owlett strikes out 14 in 2-1 win over Sayre.
 

Junior Brandon Owlett struck out 14 Sayre batters as the Wellsboro Varsity baseball team beat Sayre 2-1 Monday night.

Owlett went the full 7 innings on the mound for the Hornets, giving up 2 hits, 3 walks, and 1 run on 115 pitches to pick up his fourth win of the year.

Senior Matt Reese and Freshman Dawson Prough scored the only 2 runs on the night for Wellsboro. Reese went 1-3 with a walk while Prough was 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Freshman Joe Allen and Junior Cody DeHaas added the Hornets' other 2 hits on the night, and Senior Ben Shaw added an RBI.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 7-2 (3-1 NTL West). The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 30 as they travel to Troy.
