Doty homers, Hornet baseball falls to Towanda.
 

Senior Brian Doty hit a home run to score the only run for the Wellsboro Varsity baseball team as they lost to Towanda 7-1 on Friday, May 2.

Towanda scored four runs in the secnond inning, two in the fifth, and one in the seventh to pick up the win.

The Hornets struggled at the plate as Towanda recorded 11 strikeouts while giving up only 4 hits and a walk. Senior Brandon Owlett and Sophomore Nick Tremper hit singles, Junior Nick Levindoski had a double, and Doty had the only other hit with his leaving the park.

Owlett started and went the first five innings for the loss. He struck out six while allowing seven hits, two walks and five earned runs. Sophomore James Mundy threw the final two, allowing five walks, one hit and one unearned run.

With the loss the Hornets fall to 6-7 (2-4 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action on Monday, May 5 as they travel to Athens.
