Hornet baseball falls to Athens, 9-0.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity baseball team continued their struggles behind the plate as they lost to Athens 9-0 on Monday, May 5.

The Hornets were only able to pound out four hits on the night, but struck out 14 times to drop their third consecutive game.

Athens scored two runs in the first innning, three in the second, one in the fourth, and three in the fifth to seal the win.

Senior Brandon Owlett, Sophomore Dawson Prough, Junior Brett Kendrick, and Senior Cody DeHaas had hits on the night. Sophomore Joe Allen struck out three in three innings for and Owlett struck out five in two innings, while Sophomore James Mundy threw a scoreless inning of relief.

The loss drops the Hornets' record to 6-8 (2-5 NTL Division 1). The team will be back in action today as they host Troy.
