Hornet baseball falls to Troy, 8-2.
 

The Wellsboro Varsity Baseball team dropped a NTL Division 1 game to Troy 8-2 on Wednesday, May 4.

Troy jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and held that until the Hornets managed to score a run in the third. Wellsboro added another run in the fourth to make it 3-2, but Troy added a run in the fifth and 4 in the sixth to put the game away and send Wellsboro home with their second straight loss.

Senior Dawson Prough had 2 hits and scored a run to lead the Hornets and senior Joe Allen and sophomore Brandon Plume added the other Hornet hits. Allen also scored the other run.

Sophomore Johnny Rowland pitched 4 innings and surrendered 3 runs, 5 hits, and 2 walks to go along with 2 strikeouts to earn the loss. Sophomore Dalton Prough pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run on 2 hits, and senior James Mundy pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 3 hits.

The loss drops the Hornets back to .500 at 6-6. The team will be back in action on Saturday afternoon against North Penn-Mansfield.
