Middle School Hornets split with NEB, Elk Lake.
 

The Wellsboro Middle School Baseball team fell to Elk Lake and beat Northeast Bradford in a doubleheader at Northeast Bradford on Saturday, May 8.

Elk Lake beat Wellsboro 10-1. The Hornets' lone run came in the 2nd inning on a Cameron Owlett double that scored Lucas Cuneo. Wellsboro had just two hits in the game, one by Cameron Owlett and the other by Dustin Owlett.

In the second game Wellsboro edged Northeast Bradford, 13-10. After holding a 12-0 lead after the 1st two innings, 6 runs in both, Northeast Bradford scored 10 runs in the 3rd to cut Wellsboro's lead to two runs. The Hornets added an insurance run in the bottom of the 3rd and held on the rest of the way for the win.

Wellsboro's offense produced 14 hits in the game, led by two hits each from Will Gastrock, Cuneo, and Gabe Sprouse. Alec Magli, Ryder Bowen, Marek Mascho, Braeden Abernathy, Cameron Owlett, Drayden McGee, John McConaghy, and Luke Rothermel also added hits. Gastrock had a double, Cuneo drove in 3 runs, Abernathy added 2 RBIs, and Gastrock, Magli, Sprouse, Cameron Owlett, McGee, and Dustin Owlett also drove in runs.

The Hornets are now 6-3-1 on the season and return to action on Thursday, May 13 at home against Athens.
